Moses Johnson

NATCHEZ — Services for Moses Johnson, 92, who died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at Glenburney Nursing Home, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Living Word Worship Center in Natchez with Dwight Greene officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson was born June 7, 1923, in Church Hill, the eldest son of Johnnie and Alice Tyler Johnson.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served honorably during World War II. He retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company after 24 years. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ and served faithfully under the leadership of Windell Green.
“Mr. Mose” was a devoted and loving husband to Irma McNealy, who he married in 1947. He was a strong and loving father to their seven children.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Moses Johnson Jr. and Charles Edward Johnson; his wife of 62 years who died in 2010; his parents; and three siblings, Odessa, Leonia and George.
Survivors include three daughters, Audrey White and husband, David, of Antioch, Calif., Carolyn Johnson and Sharon Johnson, both of Natchez; two sons, Gregory Johnson of Houston and Edris Van Johnson and wife, Christine, of Natchez; one sister, Alice McNealy of New Orleans; one brother, John Johnson of Los Angeles; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, friends and a loving church family.
We give God all the glory for the great man of God, husband, dad, uncle and friend he was. He will always be remembered in each of our hearts.
