NATCHEZ — A Natchez teen is dead and another charged with murder after a deadly gun game early Sunday morning.
The victim and the suspect were both 17.
Natchez Police Department Detective Jerry Ford said the incident happened around 12:30 a.m., when a group of juveniles were playing a game of dominoes on Mount Carmel Drive in the Morgantown area.
At some point, the suspect, Jeffery Blanton Jr., decided to play with a revolver, placing a single bullet in the cylinder and spinning it before starting a game of Russian roulette, Ford said.
“They said he was pointing it at the ground, and then he finally aimed the gun at Justin Williams Jr.,” Ford said. “When the gun went off, Justin threw his hand up, and the bullet went through his hand and hit him in the chest.”
Adams County Coroner James Lee, who called the case “a tragedy,” said Williams was pronounced dead at Merit Health Natchez at 1:10 a.m. Sunday.
Ford said police were able to recover the suspected revolver.
Blanton was detained without bond Sunday.
The matter remains under investigation.
