NATCHEZ — Services for Laverna “BaBa” Whitley, 70, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, at her residence, will be noon at Prys Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonnie Culbert officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the Natchez chapel and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Whitley was born March 14, 1945, in Bastrop, La., the daughter of Leon Watkins and Willie Marie Taylor.

She was a faithful and devoted member of the usher board.

Mrs. Whitley was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Henry Taylor, Jimmy Taylor and Roy Chester.

Survivors include her loving and devoted husband, George Whitley; five children, Andrew Watkins and wife, Lillian, Ann Watkins and husband, Frank, Thomas Watkins, Fran Whitley and Jean Whitley-Brown; four siblings, Addie Simon and husband, Howard, Labelle Wilson and husband, Arthur Lee, Dennis Taylor and wife, Velma, and John Willie Taylor; eight grandchildren, Dwight Watkins, Eric Watkins, Kenyatta Matthews, Brianna Watkins, Thomas Logan, Mondella Walker, Jordan Donald and Gabrielle Hill; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
