SICILY ISLAND — Services for Freddie C. “Pete” Cooper, 58, who died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at his residence, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Hill Baptist Church in Sicily Island with the Rev. Benny Alford and the Rev. Harrell Tucker officiating.

Burial will follow at Cypress Grove Cemetery in Ferriday under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home in Alexandria, La.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from noon until service time Wednesday, at the church.

Whether riding dirt bikes or running around with his siblings and friends, Pete Cooper grew up in the hills of Sicily Island. He was a graduate of Sicily Island High School and later from Louisiana Tech University, earning a degree in electrical engineering.

In his career with Chevron, Pete traveled and lived all over the world. Through his travels, he made a number of lifelong friends all over the world. He loved and delighted in his friends and family. He was full of life, always smiling and laughing. He was caring and enjoyed helping others. He could always be found working on the land, building something or fixing absolutely any kind of equipment from electronics to machinery. He was an avid golfer who loved the game and the competition.

Pete was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church. He was also a Master Mason with the Keystone 213 Masonic Lodge of Sicily Island.

Though Pete lived on five different continents during his lifetime, his heart remained forever with his family and friends in the hills of Sicily Island.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dewey Coughran and Lucille Roy and paternal grandparents, Roy Lee Cooper and Mae Bass Conn.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Cooper; his parents, Freddie and Edna Cooper of Sicily Island; two sisters, Cheryl Mouliere and husband, Marshall, of Bunkie, La., and Joan Hampton and husband, Gary, of West Monroe, La.; one brother, Dennis Cooper and wife, Kris, of Huntington Woods, Mich.; three nieces, Chelsea Cooper, Abby Cooper and Emma Cooper; one nephew, Hunter Tyler; and a number of uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Gerald McMurray, Kenneth Hedrick, Lynn Vines, Roger Vines, James Cowan, Kelly Thompson, Dennis Durant and Stewart Turpie.
