NATCHEZ — Mass of Resurrection for Louise Ann May Dore, 82, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at Merit Health Natchez, surrounded by her loving family, will be 11 a.m. today at St. Mary Basilica with celebrants, the Rev. Robert Dore and the Rev. Joseph Kopacz, D.D., officiating. Concelebrants will be the Rev. David O’Connor, pastor, the Rev. Wayne Arnold, Diocese of Memphis and priests of the Diocese of Jackson.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mrs. Dore was born Feb. 14, 1933, in Natchez, the daughter of Anthony May and Lottie Richardson May.
She was a lifelong Catholic and regular Mass attendee at Assumption Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She also attended St. Mary Basilica and most recently at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidalia. She was educated at St. Joseph and Cathedral Schools and graduated in 1953.
Louise worked as a cosmetologist, in security for Woolco Department Store and as a private duty caregiver. She had a generous and compassionate spirit, a loving and giving heart, and was loved deeply by her family and many friends. She had a kind word for everyone she encountered and will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her family.
Mrs. Dore was preceded in death by her husband, Noel H. “Sonny” Dore Jr.
Survivors include her son, the Rev. Robert Dore of Columbus; two daughters, Lorraine Dore Arnold and husband, Douglas, and Rhonda Dore Brashier and husband, Paul Keith, all of Natchez; four grandchildren, Destiny Dantzler and husband, Jay, Hayden Collins and wife, Teri, Zac Arnold and Zoie Arnold; one step-grandson, Joel Arnold; five great-grandchildren, Will Alexander, Westin Alexander, Sam Collins, Brianna Collins, and Noah Collins; and one step-great-granddaughter, Sydney Dantzler; one sister, Mary May Carter of Natchez; and a number nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews.
Pallbearers will be Keith Brashier, Douglas Arnold, Heath Arnold, Hayden Collins, Zac Arnold and Jay Dantzler.
Honorary pallbearers will be William H. “Billy” Geohegan Jr., Sharon Bradford, and the Cathedral High School Class of 1953.
