VIDALIA — A Ferriday teen was arrested Monday on the allegations he killed one man and tried to kill two other people late last week.
Jaccari D. Burns, 17, 8618 U.S. 84 West, Ferriday, was booked into the Concordia Parish Jail Monday on a charge of second-degree murder and two counts attempted second degree murder.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Vernon Stevens said the arrest was in connection with the fatal shooting of Ladarrius Wiggins, 23, of Clayton.
Wiggins died of what police characterized as a single gunshot wound Saturday morning.
The case began after the driver of the vehicle Wiggins was in pulled into a service station on E.E. Wallace Boulevard in Ferriday to tell a deputy there they were taking a gunshot victim to Riverland Medical Center.
Ferriday police said earlier this week that the shooting occurred at the corner of Kentucky Avenue and 10th Street.
Stevens said investigators believe Burns allegedly fired his weapon from another vehicle at the vehicle in which Wiggins was a passenger, characterizing the shooting as a drive-by.
The additional charges of attempted murder reflect the allegation that Burns fired shots at other passengers in the vehicle, Stevens said.
The shooting is believed to stem from an earlier altercation between Burns and someone in the vehicle, he said, though the matter still remains under investigation.
Stevens said more arrests are likely as the investigation continues.
Burns was detained Tuesday without bond.
