FERRIDAY — An early morning shooting in Ferriday left one man dead Saturday.

Ferriday Police Department Chief Margaret Lawrence said a man was shot in a vehicle on the corner of Kentucky Avenue and 10th Street.

The driver of the vehicle was on his way to Riverland Medical Center with the victim and saw a deputy at Circle K. Lawrence said he stopped and advised the deputy someone had been shot in his vehicle.

“The deputy apparently contacted Ferriday Police Department in reference to it,” Lawrence said.

The victim died of his injury. Lawrence said she believed he had only been shot once.

The matter is currently still under investigation and, as of Saturday night, no arrests have been made.
