WOODVILLE — Bailey Boyd and Brianna Henson led a balanced scoring attack for Adams County Christian School with 10 points each as the Lady Rebels defeated the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Lady Rams 55-11 Thursday night.
This game was pretty much over in the early stages of the first quarter. When WCCA was able to get a shot off, it did not go in the basket. When the quarter was over, ACCS had an 18-0 advantage.
And it did not get much better for the Lady Rams after that. They finally got on the scoreboard in the second quarter, but the Lady Rebels continued to dominate both ends of the court and went into halftime with a commanding 32-2 lead.
The third quarter was the most competitive one of the game as ACCS scored 10 points and WCCA had nine points. However, the fourth quarter was similar to the opening quarter as the Lady Rams failed to score a point while the Lady Rebels put up 13 points.
Allison Freeman added nine points, Emily Williams poured in eight points, and Anna McDaniel chipped in with six points for the Lady Rebels.
ACCS (3-1) plays at Riverfield Academy next Tuesday night. WCCA next plays on Monday night at Central Private School.
University Academy of CENLA girls 64, Trinity Episcopal 44
ALEXANDRIA, La. — Rejale William led University Academy of CENLA with a game-high 21 points, and Jada Swafford poured in 20 points as the Lady Lions defeated the Trinity Episcopal Lady Saints 64-44 Thursday night.
The game was played on the LSU-Alexandria campus, and the Lady Saints of Trinity Episcopal were in for a long night. With William, Swafford and Taylor Sadler leading the way, University Academy jumped out to a 20-12 lead after one quarter of play and then outscored Trinity Episcopal 14-6 in the second quarter for a 34-18 halftime lead.
D’Asia Mitchell and Sloane Young tried to lead the Lady Saints back in the game during the third quarter. Trinity ended up scoring 21 points in that quarter while holding the Lady Lions to just 14 points to make it a 48-39 game.
Unfortunately, the comeback attempt did not last any longer than that. University Academy’s defense played much like it did in the second quarter and that allowed the Lady Lions to outscore the Lady Saints 16-5.
Mitchell finished with 18 points and Young scored 13 points for the Lady Saints. Sadler ended up with 12 points for the Lady Lions.
Trinity Episcopal (3-1) will look to avenge this loss to University Academy of CENLA when the two teams meet in Natchez next Monday night.
