FALLBROOK, Calif. — Memorial services for Joseph H. Crews Jr., 77, a longtime resident of Fallbrook, Calif., and a native of McComb, who died Oct. 26, 2015, at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, Calif., from injuries he suffered in an automobile collision Oct. 21, 2015, will be announced at a later date.
Mr. Crews was known for his numerous community activities and his beautiful botanical and cactus gardens.
He was a graduate of McComb High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany and in New York as a writer for the Stars and Stripes.
He also worked for National Airlines in New Orleans and for Pan American Airlines in Los Angeles before he retired to Fallbrook.
Mr. Crews was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph H. Crews and Kathryn Moak Crews.
Survivors include two sisters, Eleanor Emanuel of Natchez and Helen Rogers of Mansfield, La.; one brother, Bill, of Purlear, N.C.: five nephews, Dudley Wilkinson, Howard Wilkinson, Richard Wilkinson, Billy Crews and Jeff Crews; one niece, Janice Harrigill; one aunt, Rhoda Westbrook; and a number of cousins.
