VIDALIA — The Vidalia Vikings season will come to a close a bit sooner than expected.
Because of the expected thunderstorms Friday, the Vikings will travel to play Peabody on Thursday instead of Friday.
“Since it’s Week 10, I was willing to make the move,” Vidalia head coach Jeff Hancock said. “I wouldn’t want to do it if it was Week 1, but we’ve practiced enough for it not to affect us too bad. Plus, having a young team, I wouldn’t want to get down their Friday and have to postpone to Saturday and make that trip again.”
The decision to move the game comes after several game changes announced Monday, including West Monroe at Alexandria, Neville at Franklin Parish, General Trass at Sterlington and Mangham at Rayville.
The Vikings are 2-7 with a 1-5 district record, while Peabody is 5-4 and 4-2 in district.
The district showdown will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday
