FERRIDAY — Services for Dorothy Martin, 75, of Wisner, La., formerly of Ferriday, who died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, will be 2 p.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Teresa Hancock and the Rev. Davis Poss officiating.

Burial will follow at South Central Cemetery in Wisner under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Martin was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Oak Grove, La., the daughter of W.W. Smith and Pearl W. Smith.

She was a member of Vidalia Assembly of God Church. She was a meek but truly a strong willed Christian woman who loved gardening and flowers, but especially her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melton R. Martin; her parents; two sisters, Pearline King and Mary Ann Fairbanks; and two brothers, Bracie Lee Smith and Sonny Smith.

Survivors include two sons, Donnie R. Martin and Edward R. Martin, both of Ferriday; one daughter, Joy Cobb and husband, Wade, of Clayton; eight grandchildren, William C. “Casey” Martin, Donnie R. Martin Jr., Brandy Adair, Daniel Book, David Book, Lacey Ann Martin, Seirra Elizabeth Martin and Shelby Lane Martin; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Smith and wife, Patsy, of Ferriday and Freddie Smith and wife, Virginia, of Hopkinsville, Ky.; and five sisters, Hazel Minor of Ferriday, Vina Jo Delaust and husband, Freddie, of Jonesville, Melba Moreland and husband, Chuck, of Monterey, Brenda Moffett and husband, Charles, of West Monroe, La., and Linda Manly and husband, John, of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Book, David Book, Casey Martin, Shelby Martin, Evan Prince and James Adair.

Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren.
