NATCHEZ — Services for Elizabeth Ann Reed, 86, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. today at Jefferson Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Kramer officiating.
Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time to at the church.
Mrs. Reed was born April 7, 1929, in Columbia, the daughter of James Wiley Watkins and Lucy Rice Watkins.
She was raised in Crystal Springs where she graduated from high school. She also attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College for one year, where she met her husband, Tex Reed. They were married in 1948, and moved to Natchez. After a brief move to Denver for 11 years, she moved back to Natchez in 1985. She enjoyed her years in Colorodo.
A union that lasted 59 years, her greatest accomplishment was her children, grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her laughter and eagerness to talk to anyone she met.
Mrs. Reed was a member of Jefferson Street United Methodist Church and a member of several bridge groups.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leslie Samuel “Tex” Reed; and one granddaughter, Leslie Ann Blanton.
Survivors include one son, Leslie Samuel “Sammy” Reed Jr. of Denver; one daughter, Lynda Reed Blanton of Natchez; one grandson, Jamie Blanton and wife, Mary Jo, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Reed Blanton and Mary Claire Blanton; and one sister, June Hennington of Crystal Springs.
Pallbearers will be Dix Doering, Doug Scruggs, Byron Carnett, Jason McGehee, Jamie Blanton, Tommy Bee and Jerry Stowers.
The family extends thanks to her special caregivers.
