NATCHEZ — Services for Charles C. Screws, 95, of Natchez, who died Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Schiele officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:45 p.m. today with a celebration of life service at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Mr. Screws was born Sept. 28, 1920, in Natchez, the son of Willie and Della Screws.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Barbara Ann; one son, Melvin; two sisters, Willie Mae Rawlings and Clarice Green; one brother, James Screws Jr.; daughter-in-law, Hattie Marie Screws; two brothers-in-law, Charles Wright and wife, Cora, and John W. Davis; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Bradford.
Survivors include a loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Amanda Screws; five daughters, Wanda Gomes of Denver, Ava Clarice Screws of Natchez, Charlita Cloman of Madison, Sheila Green of Dallas and Bridget Conner of Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
