NATCHEZ — Three Adams County Christian School girls soccer players saw their hard work from this season pay off when they learned they had been selected to the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Division III All-District team.

Defender Kristen Rhinehart and forwards Karrigan Eidt and Jordan Parker, all seniors, were named to the team by coaches from around the state. Along with her all-district selection, Parker was also named to the MAIS South All-Star team, which is made up of the best 18 players in the southern region of the state.

“To have other coaches recognize these ladies and then have Parker chosen as one of the best 18 is amazing to me,” ACCS head coach Jimmy Allgood said.

But the statistics easily show why the three were a shoe-in for the honor. Parker was one of the top goal scorers in the state with 34, while Eidt had more than 20 assists and Rhinehart led a defensive back line that rarely allowed a goal.

“Starting in the back, Kristen Rhinehart has been the backbone,” Allgood said. “She’s one of those back defenders that makes it all happen. I’m from the belief that offense starts from the defense, and she has been the anchor this year for us in the back.”

Although Rhinehart isn’t on the scoresheet every game, she said she enjoys knowing she helped the team.

“It feels pretty good to see them score,” she said. “It all starts in the back with a good goal kick and I do those.”

Moving up the field, Allgood will be forced to replace one of the most lethal strike forces in the state in Eidt and Parker.

“Those two up top have been a dynamic duo for years,” Allgood said. “Parker has been one of the top scorers in the state for the past two years, but you can’t do that without an assist person and Karrigan Eidt has been a very unselfish dimension for our team.”

Eidt compared her role to one of the most important in another sport.

“I’m happy with getting all those assists,” she said. “It is like being the quarterback on the soccer field.”

Allgood said without Eidt, many of the successful scoring plays wouldn’t have happened.

“She has learned that role of taking the ball up the field and threading the needle getting the ball to Parker,” he said.

As for Parker, the goals just kept pouring in in 2015.

“It is funny when I received the print out of the teams, Parker’s name was at the top of the list,” Allgood said. “Anybody who is the leading scorer in the state is No. 1 in my book.”

Parker said she is nervous about having to play in an all-star game, but is looking forward to it.

“I just hope to play,” she said. “There are 18 girls so I just want to play. It feels pretty good to make it and that all this hard work paid off.”

The all-star game is scheduled for this afternoon in Jackson.

Both Parker and Eidt are planning to continue their careers collegiately, while Rhinehart said the end of her soccer road is likely near.

Parker said she plans on playing at Co-Lin Wesson, while Eidt is planning to try out at some junior colleges.
