NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Douglas Ray Netherland, 92, of Ferriday, who died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015, at The Columns Nursing Home, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Josh Morea officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday at the funeral home in Ferriday.

Mr. Netherland was born April 25, 1923, in Natchez, the son of William and Lillie Netherland.

He was a lifelong resident of Ferriday. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy as a gunnery mate second class during World War II and worked in the trucking industry for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth Ray Netherland; and one sister, Dorothy Chandler.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen Fletcher of Ferriday; one son, Bubba Netherland of Walker, La.; former wife, Frances Netherland of Ferriday; five grandchildren, Wendy Netherland Garrett and husband, Mike, Sandy Netherland Roberts and husband, Shad, Terry Brandon Fletcher, Emilie Grace Netherland and Abbie Gayle Netherland; three great-grandchildren, Raylyn Grace Harkins, Payten Gage Roberts and Kenneth Bryce Roberts; one sister, Earlene Moore and husband, Tom; one brother, Louie Cecile Netherland; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Cater, Neil Faulkner, Stanley Cater and Carno Peoples.
