FERRIDAY — Services for Alex Shurmon “Blue” Brothers, 83, of Ferriday, who died Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be 1 p.m. today at St. Reed Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Justin Conner officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the church.

Mr. Brothers was born March 27, 1932, in Clayton, the son of Alex Brothers and Daisy Grayson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and one son, James Brothers.

Survivors include two first cousins, Grayson Evelyn Jones of Houston and Overturn Goldman of Houma, La.; very dear friends, Clarence Randall III and wife, Shirley; and a number of neighbors and friends.
