FERRIDAY — The Delta Charter Storm struggled in their first district matchup last week, falling 56-6. But, head coach Jarrett Hoffpauir said his team was quick to turn around and put their sights on Friday’s game.
“We put that one behind us,” he said. “We knew it would be a good team, they were, and now we are looking forward to this week.”
Next in line for the Storm is St. Frederick, who is coming off a 46-0 pounding of Beekman.
“They are going to be a good solid team,” Hoffpauir said. “They are going to be well coached, do the little things right, and we are going to have to play good football to win this one.”
A positive in the matchup, Hoffpauir said, is the similarities between the teams.
“They are a lot like us on offense,” he said. “They do the same stuff we do, so we’ll be very familiar with that. Defensively, they are going to run a four front, and that is better for our linemen. It should make thinking a little easier for them. We’re going to stay with our same stuff on offense.”
Another positive heading into the game is the return of some injured Delta Charter players. The Storm were without four starters last Friday.
“We should have all but one,” Hoffpauir said. “We had a knee injury last week and one guy who is recovering from staph infection, but hopefully will be able to go this week.”
The Storm and Warriors are scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff in Monroe.
