VIDALIA — A Natchez man was shot and hospitalized after a fight Saturday morning.
The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call at 10:02 a.m. Saturday requesting deputies at 379 Belle Grove Circle, and when they arrived, they found Christopher David Rouse, 29, and Lauren Ashley Harper, 29, outside the residence, CPSO spokesman Vernon Stevens said.
Rouse reportedly told deputies he had asked for a response to the address to have Frederick Fudickar Jr., removed. Reports at the CPSO indicate Fudickar was trying to enter the residence without permission.
Harper and Fudickar have had a previous relationship, Stevens said.
Rouse told the deputy a scuffle had broken out after the phone call to the sheriff’s office because Fudickar had entered the residence, but when he was told to leave he charged Rouse, Stevens said.
“Mr. Rouse shot (Fudickar) one time in the lower left side,” he said. “At that point, Fudickar left the scene in his truck.”
Rouse told deputies he had shot Fudickar in self-defense, and showed them the weapon used inside the residence. Deputies took possession of the weapon and were able to collect the shell casings.
Deputies contacted Fudickar and asked him if he needed help, Stevens said, but he initially declined. Fudickar later called parish dispatcher and said he needed assistance. An ambulance was dispatched to the Grayson Road area.
Fudickar was eventually airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center for emergency surgery, where he remains as he recuperates.
The matter remains under investigation, Stevens said, and no charges have been filed at this time.
