NATCHEZ — The air-conditioning unit that went out nearly two weeks ago at the Judge George W. Armstrong Library is still broken, but library officials said doors are open.

Library director Pam Plummer said the unit should be up and running by Thursday.

“Hopefully by then, we will have some air flowing through the building,” she said.

The city-owned library, located at 220 S. Commerce St., has been without air conditioning since Sept. 11. The library was temporarily closed after the air-conditioning went out.

Plummer said after having the unit inspected, it was discovered that a part on the unit needed to be replaced.

The part will cost approximately $6,000, she said.“Right now it is comfortable in the building,” she said. “But if that changes, we might have to close.”

While the library is without air conditioning, Plummer said all computer classes and Thursday movie nights are canceled.

“Even though they say the part should be in tomorrow, we just wanted to play it safe,” she said.
