JONESVILLE — Bo Sproles is the new interim head football coach at Block High School.
After taking over just a few weeks before the beginning of the season, former head coach Danny Adams has returned to Alabama.
“Something medical came up, he went home to the doctor and they decided to keep him there,” Sproles said of Adams. “We had to make a move quick and move forward with the season. We wish him the best and he did a good job of having the kids prepared.”
Sproles takes over an 0-3 team with two big tests ahead.
“We are going to try and have to survive these next two weeks and hopefully keep the kids healthy for district,” Sproles said. “We’ve got a powerhouse on the road in Mangum this week and then have Rayville the next.”
Despite the shuffling atop the program, Sproles said Block players are handling the situation well.
“They are adjusting and things just kind of fell into place,” Sproles said. “We had a junior varsity game against Vidalia (Monday) and came out on top, so that is a good way to start season two, so to say.”
Sproles said he has ideas in mind as far as changes on the field, but doesn’t want to give too much away too soon.
“We are looking at different ways to move the ball,” he said. “We just want to stay positive in yardage and the main thing is correcting unnecessary penalties and to learn to play smarter football.”
