Trini moved to Baton Rouge in 2009, to be closer to her family after the death of her second husband of 24 years, James “Jim” Gilbert.

She was a lifelong homemaker and a devoted parishioner of Assumption Catholic Church in Natchez.

She would want to be remembered for volunteering with the Kings Daughter Circle, making a good home, being a good friend and neighbor, sharing her cooking and promoting strong family bonds. This was most proudly evident at the age of 80, her deciding to have a tattoo of the Roman numeral three (III) on her ankle to represent her lineage of being the third Trinidad of five at that time.

Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by the love of her life and father of her children, A.J. Lopez; one sister, Mary Galvan; two sons, Robert and Frank Lopez; one grandson, Garrett Tyler Rachal; and one great-grandson, Andrew Joseph Lopez-Tynes.

Survivors include on brother, Manuel San Roman of Conroe, Texas; two sisters, Josephine Wells and Delores Whitburn, both of Spring, Texas; three sons, Anthony, James and John Lopez; one daughter, Trinidad Lopez; seven grandchildren, Adrienne Lopez, Kelsey Cabana, Josh Rachal, Trini Rachal, Erin Richardson, Joanna Dial and Mat Lopez; and she loved being “GG” to her babies including Roman Smith, Josselyn Richardson, Jordan Harrington and Alea Smith.

In lieu of flowers or any remembrances for Trini, the family requests donations be made to the Shriners Hospital.
