Get involved with recreation plans tonight

Adams County voters threw their wholehearted support behind a new recreation complex nearly one and half years ago when the issue was put to a non-binding vote.
Tonight, voters will be able to see the next step in that process as members of the Natchez-Adams Recreation Commission unveil prospective plans for the new recreation facility.
After the nearly 80-percent vote in support of a new recreation complex in November 2009, elected and community leaders saw the overwhelming support and quickly put together a team of community members to study options.
The recreation commission was formed and has been meeting, studying and considering options for a possible recreation complex.
Tonight’s forum will give members of the public a chance to see the commission’s work, ask questions to the members of the recreation commission and offer input and feedback on the plans.
We’ve long been supporters of investing more in our community’s recreational facilities, as our current offerings are woefully behind communities our size.
We look forward to seeing the preliminary plans the commission has created and we encourage citizens to attend the meeting. We ask supporters of recreation to hold their enthusiasm — just a bit, and we ask critics to keep an open mind.
