FERRIDAY — A car wreck Friday near Monterey helped police arrest a man they believe was originally a victim of a shooting, but later retaliated by shooting at one of his alleged assailants.

Ferriday Police Captain Rickey Hollins said Darren D. Curry, 35, 810 Maryland Ave., Ferriday, was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault by drive-by shooting. He was being held Saturday with no bond set.

Police believe Curry shot at a car he believed contained a man who had allegedly shot at Curry two days prior.

Curry was allegedly a victim of a shooting around midnight on Aug. 22. Two suspects, Jarvis Jarman Davis and Markell K. Cook, were previously arrested Aug. 23 and Aug. 25 respectively in connection with the shooting.

At the time police said they were still looking for a third suspect.

On Aug. 24, Hollins said Curry allegedly spotted the third suspect at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and E.E. Wallace Boulevard and took matters into his own hands.

Curry allegedly shot at the suspect, who was in a vehicle along with two others, who Hollins said were not connected with the shooting.
