NATCHEZ — Services for Henry Duncan Segrest, 79, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Promise Hospital, will be 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Southerland officiating.
Burial will follow at the Union Church Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Segrest was born July 31, 1936, at Union Church, the son of Henry Segrest and Mattye Smith Segrest.
He was a charter member of Trace City Baptist Church and later attended Pine Ridge Baptist Church.
Mr. Segrest was retired from International Paper Company. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a lifelong tinkerer and car enthusiast.
Mr. Segrest was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Ruby Beesley Segrest; one daughter, Jennifer Segrest Wilkins and husband, Kent, of Carrollton, Texas; one grandson, Mason Wilkins of Carrollton; two sisters, Gwendolyn Segrest Swearenger and husband, Charles, of Hurst, Texas and Carolyn Smith and husband, Ed, of Wesson; childhood and lifetime friend, Doyle Stroud and wife, Faye, of Brookhaven; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Maher, Tony Maher, Phillip Maher, Walter Beesley, Paul Beesley, Kenny McCraven and Robert Magee.
The family thanks Mr. Sergest’s caregivers at Community and Promise Hospitals.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mississippi Kidney Foundation, 3000 Old Canton Road, Suite 110, Jackson, MS 39216 (Brookhaven dialysis unit.)
