NATCHEZ — A Ferriday woman died Sunday night after a single-vehicle crash in Catahoula Parish Sunday night.

Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the site of the crash, near the intersection Louisi-ana 126 and Fish Fin Road in Jonesville, at approximately 10 p.m., according to a news release from the state police.

The Dodge Charger driven by Donna K. Oliveaux, 50, had exited the roadway after traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Louisiana 126, according to the statement.

Oliveaux had apparently lost control of the vehicle at some point, the statement said, and after the vehicle left the roadway, it traveled down a steep embankment and collided with several trees.

The driver was wearing her seat belt, but was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation.

This is the 26th fatal crash investigated by Troop E, re-sulting in the 31st fatality.
