VICKSBURG (AP) — A 20-year-old Mississippi State University student has been crowned Miss Mississippi.

The previous title for Sarah Beth James was Miss Metro Jackson. The woman from Brandon was among 45 contestants competing Saturday night, and she showed off her skills on the piano.

She will compete in the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas in January.
