Wins on field highlight big week in area

If the Miss-Lou were a football team, residents would have claimed several touchdowns last week. Let’s take a moment to celebrate a few victories:
4When Charles Ferguson first started working at the Vidalia Police Department, Diana Ross ruled the radio and Richard Nixon was still in office. Forty-five years later — today — Ferguson still serves Vidalia as VPD captain. Friday, Ferguson received well-deserved recognition for his decades of service. We thank Ferguson, and all other long-time law enforcement officials, for serving and protecting our community.
4At age 22, Natchez native Trey Mitchell earned the title of worship director for the Young People’s Division of the Worldwide A.M.E. Church. An Alcorn State University student, Mitchell has big dreams for his musical passions. We congratulate Mitchell on this great opportunity, which will include overseeing worship services on an international level.
4Friday marked the beginning of football season for Natchez and Adams County. Cathedral, Adams County Christian School, Franklin County, Jefferson County, Wilkinson County, Wilkinson County Christian and Centreville all rolled out victories. We are proud of our local athletes and coaches, and we encourage the community to come out again this Friday to cheer on the Miss-Lou.
As we plunge into another busy week, we encourage everyone to stay open for many more victories.
