MEADVILLE — Jacob McDaniel threw two first-half touchdown passes and Franklin County’s defense held Brookhaven to under 200 yards of total offense as the Bulldogs defeated the Panthers 20-6 Friday night.

McDaniel ended up going 7-for-14 passing for 111 yards with just one interception. He threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to De’Martre Collins with 10:01 left in the first quarter and a 26-yard scoring pass to Antonio Christmas with just 51 seconds to go before halftime.

“He did a great job. It wasn’t an easy night. They (Panthers) were physical,” Bulldogs head coach Anthony Hart said.

With the exception of two plays, Franklin County’s defense had its way with Brookhaven’s offense. Led by Chris O’Quinn, Cameron Young and La’darius Norman, the Bulldogs held the Panthers to just 195 total yards. O’Quinn had a team-leading nine tackles while Young and Norman each had seven tackles.

“Defense played well. Of the 195 yards, 100 of them were on two plays. We shut Brookhaven down pretty good,” Hart said. One of those plays was a 54-yard touchdown run by Thomas Poole.

Cortney Smith was the Bulldogs’ leading rusher with 66 yards on 25 carries, including a 1-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter. Collins finished with 77 yards receiving on five catches.
