NATCHEZ — School might’ve started Monday, but there are still plenty of things to do this weekend.

Students and families alike can celebrate the first full week of school with football and parties, while weapons enthusiasts and those looking to have a good meal will have events too.

After weeks of soaring temperatures, it looks like things might be cooling down a little in Natchez.

Friday will be sunny with a high of 93 and a low of 72. Saturday should bring some cloud cover with a high of 89 and a low of 69.

The weekend will wrap up with some more clouds Sunday and a high of 90 with a low of 69.

Natchez Night of Champions

Adams County Christian School will honor Natchez coaches who have won at least one state championship football game tonight at 5:30 p.m. at the school.

“I think it’s a great tribute to those guys,” ACCS Headmaster David King said.

After the event, a jamboree exhibition game will be held between Trinity Saints and the ACCS Rebels. Once the game is over, everyone will gather on the field for photos.

Natchez Junior Auxiliary Spaghetti Lunch

This Friday, the Natchez Junior Auxiliary is hosting a spaghetti lunch fundraiser.

Plates cost $8 and contain spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, salad and a cookie. Tickets can be purchased from any JA member.

“They can pick up plates from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Natchez Little Theatre,” Chassity Cannon, Treasurer of the Natchez JA, said.

Plates can be delivered downtown or for orders of five plates or more. Extra plates will be available for people who come on the day of the event.

Bowie Knife Show

Weapons enthusiasts should make a stop by the Natchez Convention Center this Friday and Saturday for the Bowie Knife Show.

The annual showcase will display some of the best guns, knives and other weaponry around, as well as rare artifacts.

The show runs from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Admission to the show is $5.

Back-to-School Bash

Students and families who want to celebrate the end of the first week of school might want to take a stroll by Liberty Field on Saturday.

The New Hope Vision Center is sponsoring a Back-to-School Bash at the park from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event will feature a dunking booth, bounce house, speakers, games, food and free school supplies.
