NATCHEZ — What began as an alleged kidnapping Tuesday turned into a simple domestic dispute.

At approximately 4 p.m. Monday, Cedric D. Farris, 28, of St. Joseph, La., forcefully took his girlfriend from her place of work at Walgreens on U.S. 61.

After putting her into his vehicle, Farris hit an 18-wheeler truck while exiting the parking lot, Lt. Craig Godbold of the Natchez Police Department said.

“The 18-wheeler got no damage, but his truck did,” Godbold said.

After the NPD was notified of the alleged kidnapping, Goldbold said several law enforcement officials began searching for the pair, who ended up at the Deluxe Inn Natchez, located on John R. Junkin Drive.

When officials arrived, Godbold said the two were talking out their problems.

“She wanted to break up, and he didn’t want to,” said Godbold, adding that the two have children together.

After locating the pair, Godbold said the female insisted that no charges be made against Farris.

However, Godbold said Farris was arrested on the spot and charged with disturbing the peace and domestic violence.

Farris was booked into the Natchez City Jail Tuesday night, and made a $1,500 bond Wednesday morning.

Godbold said the female was uninjured.

“It was a whole lot of work for a whole lot of nothing,” Godbold said of the incident.
