WOODVILLE — Funeral services for Mavis McMillan Whitaker, 83, of Woodville, who died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015 at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woodville United Methodist Church in Woodville with the Rev. Warren Whitaker officiating.
Interment will follow at the Whitaker family cemetery.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Mrs. Whitaker was born on Sept. 22, 1931, in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., the daughter of Len and Lula McMillan.
She was one of 10 children, nine girls and one boy.
She held various jobs throughout her life, had a multitude of beloved friends and enjoyed travel and a good time. She had a special passion for the Louisiana State University Tigers football team, was an avid follower and kept herself surrounded with Tiger memorabilia.
She is preceded in death by her siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Richard Whitaker; and three sons Richard Lynn Whitaker Jr., Mitchell Burton Whitaker and John Ramon Whitaker, all of Woodville; as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Whitaker was a long-time supporter of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the family asks that any donations in her name be made to that charity.
