NATCHEZ — During their trip from Vidalia Saturday, one motorist had to stop when his car caught fire.
Battalion Chief Ventris Green of the Natchez Fire Department said the car caught fire while its occupant was driving from Vidalia to Natchez on the Natchez-Vidalia Bridge.
While the cause for the fire is unknown, Green speculated it was possible the fuel line had ruptured.
“The occupant of the car pulled to the side and got out of the car,” Green said.
The vehicle’s occupant then called 911 on the Natchez side. Members of the Natchez and Vidalia Police Departments, along with the NFD, arrived on the scene.
“We put up cones around the vehicle and the traffic was already diverted because of the construction of the bridge,” Green said.
Green said no one was hurt in the incident.
