JACKSON — Services for Jean Lehmann Pates Rummel, 61, of Brandon, who found her peace Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, after a long illness, will be 3 p.m. today at Wells United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland.

Mrs. Rummel’s faith and sense of humor remained strong throughout it all, which should come as no surprise to anyone who knew her for five minutes or 50 years.

Jean was born Feb. 1, 1954, in Natchez, the daughter of August and Muriel Lehmann of Natchez.

As her path wound from the Mississippi River to Hattiesburg and Jackson, she never met a stranger. Her good faith, bad jokes and beautiful voice left an impression everywhere she went.

As part of the Pates Family Band, she sang, “Angel From Montgomery” on nearly every stage in and around Jackson. But as a member of the Wells United Methodist congregation, she looked most forward to the Pates’ annual appearance at WellsFest.

By day, Jean served as a speech pathologist at Flowood Elementary. She adored her children and found true joy in her classroom.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Kelly Pates of Brandon.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Rummel; one daughter, KC Williams and husband, Wes, of Jackson; two sons, Adam Pates of Flowood and Andrew and wife, Allison, of Madison; one stepdaughter, Dakota Rummel of Florence; three grandchildren, Lily Garretson, Jude Williams and Kelly Camille Pates; one sister, Elaine Bhonn and husband, John, of Lago Vista, Texas; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland.
