Christian Hope Baptist Church, 301 LaSalle St., is pleased to announce its selection as designee as the Southeastern Baptist College Natchez Extension.

The campus, located in Laurel, has been providing postsecondary education in a Christian atmosphere since 1948.

Southeastern Baptist College is an accredited four-year bible college, offering associate of arts degrees in business, Bible and general education. The two-year curriculum allows students to transfer credits to a senior college or university for training in specialized fields. The four-year course study offers bachelor of science degrees in business and church ministries. It is the mission of the college to train students in the foundational courses of a college curriculum in a spiritual academic setting.

All courses are taught in a manner as to integrate faith and learning, thereby giving recognition to the God of all truth. The Mississippi Commission on College Accreditation recognizes the school, as does the Association for Biblical Education.

Introductory courses offered will be New Testament Survey, Evangelism and Church Training. Instructors will be the Rev. Dennis Flasch, the Rev. Charles Chandler, Mrs. Linda Logan and the Rev. John W. Scott Jr. Pre-registration will begin Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 5 p.m. at the fellowship hall at Christian Hope. Registration will begin Aug. 10 through 12 with classes beginning Aug. 17.

Southeastern Baptist College is committed to the principle that no student should be denied because of financial restraints. As a participant in the Federal Financial Aid program, Pell Grants are available, along with VA benefits for veterans. The National Guard and Reserves have programs to assist members with educational pursuits.

Institutional grants like meritorious grants for students who may find themselves, “falling between the cracks,” in that they do not qualify for traditional financial assistance, but are unable to afford the total expense of a college education.

Other grants to be considered include, Youth Auxiliary Grant, offered to an incoming freshman taking 12 hours per semester and maintaining a 2.5 GPA; HANDS (Helping Attract New Desirable Students) is designed to encourage participants of churches involved in the BMA; Pastor and full-time Christian workers and the Supplemental Grant for students enrolled in the degree program and taking six hours with a 2.0 GPA. The ACT scholarship is available for students with a composite score of 24 and a 3.0 GPA.

To address the needs of students unable to attend classes because of employment or family obligations, select online courses will be implemented. The school is open to the entire community regardless of race or religious affiliation.

We will continue our association with Mississippi Reformed Theological Seminary Natchez Extension of providing current and future students an opportunity to attain their Divinity degrees in a local setting.
