NATCHEZ — Services for Ruby Lee Fells Ellis Wilkins, 90, who died Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Claiborne County Senior Care in Port Gibson, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Willie R. Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.
Mrs. Wilkins was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Willie Fells Sr. and Luberta Rucker Fells.
She was united in matrimony to James Abe Ellis in Jefferson County and to that union five children were born. They remained united until his death in 1961.
In 1982, she married James Wilkins to whom she remained wed to until his death in 2010.
Mrs. Wilkins retired from the State Department of Agriculture Home Extension Services with 15 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; one daughter, Jacqueline M. Fells; one sister; two brothers; and three grandchildren.
Survivors include five children, James Ellis, Donald Ellis, Luberta E. Thomas, Pamela E. Mackel and husband, Michael, all of Natchez, and Patricia E. Thomas and husband, Alvin, of Baton Rouge; one brother, Willie Fells of Milwaukee, Wis.; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
