NATCHEZ — In 247 Sports’ Top 100 football prospects in the nation for 2018, the Miss-Lou had two highly touted athletes present in the Top 50.
Alabama commit and Ferriday sophomore defensive tackle Dare Rosenthal was at No. 10 on the list, while Natchez High School sophomore quarterback Chris Scott was at No. 47 on the list.
Getting high praise on the list was just another reason for Rosenthal to work harder.
“It motivates me to work harder,” Rosenthal said. “I’ve been lifting weights and traveling a lot. It’s been busy.”
While Rosenthal’s placement on the list might have been expected with his commitment to Alabama, Scott said his came as a surprise.
“I woke up and it felt like a dream,” Scott said. “I read it on Twitter, and it was making my chest beat a lot. Now that I’m on the list, I kind of have more responsibility to keep working harder.”
On 247 Sports, Rosenthal and Scott are both listed as 4-star athletes.
As freshmen last season, Scott threw for more than 1,000 yards and 21 touchdown passes while sharing reps with Sidney Davis, while Rosenthal totaled 42 pancakes on offense and 12 tackles for loss on defense.
Scott said he’s been trying to get his name out this offseason by sending film out and competing in as many camps as he could. Now that his name is out there, Scott is looking to take the next step.
“I’m not satisfied with that,” Scott said. “I want to be in the Top 5. It’s time to move up.”
