NATCHEZ — Services for James Lea Melton Sr., 87, of Natchez, who died Monday, July 27, 2015, at Adams County Nursing Center, will be 1 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Grady Wilson and the Rev. Curt Wilson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mary Springs Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery in Amite County.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Melton was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Liberty, the son of James N. Melton and Eddie V. Gerald Melton.
He was an auto mechanic most of his life and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.
Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hortense Freeman Melton; one son, James Lea Melton Jr.; one granddaughter, Amanda McElroy; one grandson, Scott Collier; two sisters, Emma Jean Rogers and Odell Sterling; and one brother, George Melton.
Survivors include, one daughter, Pat Wright and husband, Bobby, of Columbia, La.; four sons, Robert Melton and wife, Edna, Hiram Melton and wife, Tammy, and Lee Melton and wife, Connie, all of Natchez, and James Ray Melton and wife, Mary, of Harrisonburg, La.; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one unborn great-grandchild; and one unborn great-great grandchild; two sisters, Eula Etheridge and Geneva Cain; and one brother, Noel Melton.
Pallbearers will be Beau Melton, Boyd Melton, Kenny Corley, T.J. McElroy, John Mc Cready and Michael Melton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Corley, Bill Nations, Tuc Tucker, Tim Ates and Timothy Wright.
