MONTEREY — A car accident on Louisiana 565 caused a child to be airlifted to the hospital Sunday.
Jim Graves, Monterey Fire Chief, said two cars went into a ditch by the highway near Monterey. He is unsure how they initially got there.
Three people were involved. While Graves said one didn’t need to be taken to the hospital, the other two, who were in the same car and included a 12-year-old juvenile, were taken to Riverland Medical Center.
From Riverland, Graves said the juvenile was airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center. The other individual stayed at Riverland.
Graves said everyone’s conditions were stable last he heard.
Firefighters from Concordia Par-ish Fire Protection District No. 2, the Monterey Fire Protection Dis-trict No. 1, personnel from AMR Ambulance, Metro Ambulance, Louisiana State Police and the Con-cordia Parish Sheriff’s Office re-sponded to the accident.
