Busy week brings plenty of good news

Life just doesn’t slow down in the Miss-Lou this time of year. With school, football, festivals and event planning, we know local residents have been running.
But all their hard work is paying off and making our community better.
Let’s review a few of the great things you all did last week.
The organizers of the highly successful Miss-Lou Relay for Life kicked things off for the coming year Friday with a luncheon. The theme for this year’s Relay is “Happy Birthday,” and the event will be May 7, Mother’s Day weekend. The group working behind the scenes for Relay does an outstanding job every year. This year will, no doubt, be more of the same.
Vidalia Junior High School was recognized for its academic achievement. Congratulations to the Blue Ribbon school.
Bark in the Park and Bowie Fest made the weekend a fun one. Both annual events are local favorites, and we thank all those who worked so hard to make them possible.
Natchez Regional Medical Center will close its fiscal year soon, and the bottom line will show a profit. The embattled hospital has come a long way and good news for NRMC is good news for Adams County.
The K-9 officers at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office not only risk their lives for us on a regular basis, but they help educate our children as well. Sgt. Denis Mulvihill and his dog Jaap visited Ferriday Lower last week to teach the children about work dogs. Hands-on lessons — especially those involving animals — will stick with our children forever. Thanks sergeant.
With so much happening around us, we just can’t wait to see what’s coming next.
