NATCHEZ — Services for Ruth Audrey Frazier Dumas, 82, of Jackson, who died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Hospice Ministries Inc., in Ridgeland, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the George F. West Sr. Memorial Chapel at West Gate Funeral Home. 07-22 RuthDumas obitpic

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Dumas was born Oct. 11, 1932, in Natchez, the daughter of James Morgan and Edna Barland.

She was a graduate of Holy Family Catholic School and attended Southern University in Baton Rouge. She was employed by Dr. A.W. Dumas Jr. as office secretary. She was also employed by Britton and Koontz Bank as a teller.

Mrs. Dumas was Catholic.

She enjoyed cooking and crocheting.

Mrs. Dumas was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. A.W. Dumas Jr.; and one sister, Hattie R. Phipps.

Survivors include one son, Joseph C. Dumas of New York City; one daughter, Ramona E. Dumas of Jackson; one granddaughter, Angela M. Lewis of Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Couye Lofton, Demonté D. Lewis and Harmoni C. Rivers, all of Jackson; four sisters, Earline Henry and husband, Paul, of Sacremento, Calif., Emily Borom of San Francisco, Debra Polk and husband, George, of Jackson and Ruth Lewis and husband, Walter, of Memphis, Tenn.; one uncle, Lamar McNealy of Chicago; one goddaughter, Billie Herbert; special family friend, William C. Smith, both of Jackson; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
