VIDALIA — A man is reportedly missing from his job on an oil rig in Black Hawk, La.
The Concordia Parish Fire Department received the report at 2:07 p.m. Thursday.
“The only thing I know is that there was an oilfield worker that left the rig, and they haven’t been able to locate him,” said Vernon Stevens, spokesperson for the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
An official with the Concordia Parish Fire District No. 2 said the worker stepped off the rig for what was only supposed to be a moment and has since been missing.
The CPFD, metro ambulance, CPSO and “several helicopters” have been dispatched to the scene.
John Cowan of the CPSO said the man became overheated while on the job, and that was the last time anyone saw him.
After searching with Angola Prison’s bloodhounds, first responders were unable to locate the missing man.
The investigation is ongoing.
