FERRIDAY — Services for Tina Adella Spurgeon, 88, of Ferriday, who died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. today at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. R.V. Couch officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mrs. Spurgeon was born Oct. 1, 1926, in LaSalle Parish, the daughter of George R. Couch and Mae Gibson Couch.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Weldon Ellis and John H. Spurgeon Jr.; one son, Michael Ellis; two brothers, Dan Couch and Sam Couch; and two great-grandchildren, Forest J. Sanford and Greer Sanford.

Survivors include four daughters, Glenda Ellis Davis and husband, Raymond, of Natchez, Wanda Ellis Howard and husband, Hilton, of Ferriday, Phyllis Peele and husband, Fred, of Highpoint, N.C., and Susan Spurgeon and friend, Laverne, of Deets Gap, N.C.; three sons, Tom Ellis and wife, Annette, of Jonesville, Warren Humphries of Norwich, England and Lynn Spurgeon of Highpoint, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Sanford, Timothy Sanford, Andrew Davis, Chad Beach, Jay Bland and Heath Emfinger.
