NATCHEZ — Services for Elizabeth Gooden Scaife, 62, who died Friday, June 26, 2015, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Green Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fayette under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mrs. Scaife was born Aug. 12, 1952, in Adams County, the daughter of Tom “Tommy” Briggs Jr. and Mary G. Hunt and stepfather, Marvin.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pleasant Green Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Ferd Green. She served as an usher until her death.
Mrs. Scaife was united in holy matrimony to Johnny Lee “Sonny” Scaife on Dec. 27, 1969.
She was employed by Hope Farm B&B for more than 20 years, until her illness.
Mrs. Scaife was preceded in death by her husband; her father; stepfather; stepdaughter, Casilla B. Calvin; and her grandparents.
Survivors include her mother; three sons, Seymour “Johnell” Scaife and wife, Kimberly, Patrick D. Scaife and wife, LaJoy, and Paris W. Scaife; one daughter, Victoria L. Scaife and husband, Tyrone; one grandchild she reared as her own, Shakeria Credit; 11 loving grandchildren; five sisters, Mary A. Gooden, Bessie Bates and husband, George, Peggy Hutchins and husband, Ricky, Margaret Holmes and Barbara Jean Clark; three brothers, Lee Gooden and wife, Berry, Ernest Gooden and wife, Juanita, and the Rev. Samuel Hunt and wife, Edna; four aunts, Elizabeth Latham, Carrie B. Minor and Lillie M. Anderson and husband, Martin, all of Natchez, and Denise Johnson of Houston; three uncles, James Butler Jr. and wife, Rosetta, Gregory Johnson and Brian Briggs, all of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
