NATCHEZ — Services for Margurine Steart McCullum Pickett, 96, of Vidalia, who died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Baptist Church in Washington.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. and a “Celebration of Life” service will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home, and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.
Ms. Pickett was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Washington, the daughter of James S. and Anna Stewart.
She attended Natchez County Schools.
She was a retired cook for Natchez-Adams Schools. She attended St. Paul Baptist Church and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Choir.
She in joyed cooking, antique collecting, singing and making people smile.
Ms. Pickett was preceded in death by her husband, Will Pickett; her parents; one son, David McCullum; one brother, Mannie Stewart; and one sister Augustine S. Pickett.
Survivors include one son, Ernest Pickett of Vidalia; one daughter-in-law, Ethel V. McCullum of Natchez; four granddaughters, Marilyn M. Brumfield of Jackson, Cassandra P. Allen of Houston, Michelle Singleton of Natchez, and Tonya Powell of Detriot; eight great-grandchildren, Shalanda M. White of Natchez, Adrena Brumfield of Jackson, Zientrelle Harris of Natchez, Emari Pickett, Samone Allen and Cameron Allen, all of Houston, and Laami and Jimall Powell II of Detroit; two great-greatgrandsons, Malachi M. White of Natchez, and Micah A. Fields of Jackson; a special friend, Ms. Marie Jenkins; a special niece, Delores Pickett of Chicago; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
