NATCHEZ — Services for Joseph “Buffalo” Stepper” Jackson Sr., 92, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the Merit Health Natchez-Community Campus, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greater St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. Dandridge Brooks Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 5 to 7 p.m. today and at 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, both at the church.
Mr. Jackson was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Bude, the son of Fred and Mary Moore Jackson.
He was a World War II veteran.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Susie Dorsey Jackson; one son, Joseph Jackson Jr.; an infant daughter; six sisters, Charlotte Butler, Laura Williams, Irene Jackson, Loulla Davis, Carrie Gibbions and Heneratte Jackson; and two brothers, Calvin Jackson and Willie Jackson.
Survivors include 10 children, Jerry Jackson and wife, Kelly, Yvonne Jackson, Mary Vicks and husband, Craig, Ray Jackson and wife, Evelyn, Gloria Jackson, Larry Jackson and wife, Pat, Lonnie Jackson, Marilyn Logan and husband, Joseph, Kenn Jackson and wife, Jackie, and DeShawn Jackson and wife, Marinka; one adopted son, Preston Jackson; one brother, Fred Jackson; one sister-in-law, Louise Russell; one godchild, Shamieka Thomas; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
