School is back in session, football follows soon and before we know it, we’ll be pulling out the sweaters.
Difficult to imagine? Maybe so, but time moves quickly when you are having fun. And life in the Miss-Lou can certainly be fun.
Let’s review a few good headlines from last week:
The Town of Ferriday received its annual sales tax replacement check from Walmart. The $240,000 check will help the town deal with the extra costs of fixing its crippled water plant.
Students at Cathedral and the Natchez public school headed back to class Thursday. We hope this year is a great one.
The Natchez Chamber of Commerce Education Committee organized a great teacher convocation Wednesday, treating teachers to breakfast and a pep talk from a speaker. Teachers from several local schools attended, and it’s great to see all our educators unified before the start of a school year.
Robert Lewis Middle School student Jasmine Winding is back from an extensive tour of Europe, and she has great stories to tell her classmates. Winding was a part of the People to People Ambassador’s program. She was selected by her teachers based on her academic scores and good behavior.
The musical lineup for the Great Mississippi River Balloon Race has been finalized, and it’s a great one. With the Gin Blossoms headlining, we are already getting excited about our favorite weekend of the year.
The Natchez 12-year-old All-Stars represented our city and state at the Dixie Youth World Series this weekend. Congratulations to these boys who have worked and played so hard.
The rest of the Miss-Lou schools will get under way this week. We wish a great year to everyone in our educational system.
