NATCHEZ — Services for Mandy Miles “Wheatie” Wallace, 98, of Natchez, who died Friday, May 29, 2015, at the Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at New Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Earnest Ford Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 3 to 5 p.m. today at the chapel in Natchez and at 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mrs. Wallace was born Dec. 20, 1916, in Sibley, the daughter of William Ransom Miles and Mandy Miles.
She was a member of the Natchez Business and Civic League and the NAACP.
Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, June Wallace Jr.; three daughters, Annie Ruth Dottery, Gertrude Grace and Claudia Floyd; three brothers, William Miles Jr., Joseph Miles and Jessie Miles; and three sisters, Beatrice Claiborne, Idell Matthew and Bessie Green.
Survivors include six children, Willie Wallace and wife, Verna, of Natchez, Augustine Lewis of Chicago, June Wallace and wife, Jackie, Clarence Wallace and wife, Delores, Charles Wallace and wife, Toni, all of Houston, and Earl Wallace and wife, Ann, of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
