NATCHEZ — The Natchez Lady Bulldogs will host a three-day summer camp from June 15-17.
Fresh off of their back-to-back state championship wins, the Lady Bulldogs will aspire to teach the fundamentals of basketball while offering off-the-floor advice to third-grade girls through high school seniors.
“We want to talk about the mindset you have to have going in,” Natchez head coach Alphaka Moore. “I also want to talk to the older kids about recruiting, because a lot of kids don’t know how to put themselves out there for that.”
Members of the Lady Bulldogs basketball team, as well as former members Rashonae Rice and Keyana Jones, will serve as counselors for the camp. Cost to attend the camp will be $50 per student. Moore said the reason they’re not charging more is because they want to show their gratitude for the community’s support.
“People have been asking me why we’re only charging $50 for a three-day camp, and really, we just wanted to thank everyone for traveling to Jackson and coming to our games,” Moore said.
The camp will begin at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The camp will conclude on June 17 at 1 p.m.
Moore said the camp will stress dribbling, shooting, passing, rebounding and drills to take home, as well as information on recruiting, eligibility and what it takes to be successful.
“I want to get all of the girls from all of the schools to come out and participate,” Moore said.
