NATCHEZ — Services for Rovell Presley Jr., 63, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, May 25, 2015, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Birdon Mitchell Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Rovell was born Oct. 6, 1951, in Chicago, the only child of Rovell Presley Sr. and Francine Church Presley.

At the age of 2, Rovell and his parents relocated to Natchez where he was literally raised at Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church.

Ronnie or Ron, as he was affectionately called, lived in the Los Angeles area for 15 years where he worked at Rockwell Industries and attended Saddleback College in Mission Viejo. It was after the death of his father that he moved back to Natchez.

He was employed by several area restaurants, including the Carriage House, the Eola Hotel Restaurant and the Ramada Hotel Restaurant.

Many of his passions included science, reading, chess and listening to new age music and jazz.

Survivors include a loving and devoted mother; one sister, Patricia Presley Washington and husband, Percy; three aunts, Ruth Evans Lane and husband, Eric, Marguerite Saunders and Edna Evans; one niece, Jackye Washington Perry and husband, Jeffery; two grandnieces, Jazmin Perry and Jade Perry; 12 cousins, Michel Frazier and wife, Flora, Wilma Saunders Schmitz and husband, Steve, Allison Saunders, Cynthia Evans, Carolyn Evans, Eugene Moore, Kristen Lane Davis and husband, Patrick, Eric Lane Jr. and wife, Sachet, Damon Stevens and wife, Benita, Aaron Scott and wife, Lillie, Christopher Schmitz and wife, Ruthie, and Nikole Schmitz; best friend, Gary Zaepfel; and a number of other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
