BUDE — Services for Hiram Carlock Jr., 81, who died Sunday, May 31, 2015, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Meadville, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Bude with the Rev. Tony Mullins officiating.

Burial will follow at the Midway Cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home in Meadville.

Visitation will be at 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and at 10:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Carlock was born April 27, 1934, in Franklin County, the son of Hiram Carlock Sr. and Irene Rollins Carlock.

He was a retired U.S. Air Force member with more than 21 years of service. He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Mr. Carlock returned home and became the owner and operator of Carlock’s Grocery in Bude for a number of years. He spent his latter years as a volunteer for the U.S. Forestry Service in Idaho as a caretaker of Paddy Flat Outpost.

Mr. Carlock was known as a gentle man who loved and touched a number of people with his generosity and care for all. He loved his family very much and will be missed by all.

Mr. Carlock was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lula Mae Carlock, Maude Golman and Ruth Crosby; and one brother, Marvin Carlock.

Survivors include one son, Ray Carlock and wife, Janet, of Meadville; three daughters, Evelyn Irene Higgins and husband, Mike, of Bude, Linda Darlene Long and husband, Roger, of Bismarck, N.D., and Toni Ann Connelly and husband, Paul, of Ocean Springs; two brothers, Kirby Carlock and wife, Jewel, of Natchez and Rufus Carlock and wife, Madeline, of Mountain Home, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be the members of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Corey Jackson, Jordan Jackson, Eric Higgins, Shaun Higgins, Jake Long, Zach Putz, Josh Long, Kane Carlock, Jace Carlock and Clarence Harris.

The family extends a very special thanks to Dr. Kimberly Estes and the staff of Franklin Memorial Hospital and Meadville Nursing Home for the many hours of dedicated and faithful service.
